Schools attract home buyers

Home buyers are keener than ever to live near 'good' schools.

That is according to Hot Property, which said that 67 per cent of people are willing to sell their home and move in order to be within a specific school's catchment area.

Shawn Luetchens, managing director of the firm, said that buyers will go to great lengths to live close to the school they want to send their children to.

"The property market today certainly reflects the competitive nature of getting your child into the 'right' school," he commented.

"Due to long waiting lists and catchment area restrictions, this has become a major concern for families, one that often needs to be planned well in advance of the child actually attending school.

"Consequently in the property market, we are seeing changes in the way buyers are searching, with preferred school catchments areas becoming a priority," added Mr Luetchens.

Train stations are also said to play a big role in influencing where people choose to buy a property.ADNFCR-1116-ID-18395604-ADNFCR
