Market will benefit as Hips are expanded

Market will benefit as Hips are expanded

From December 14th anyone wishing to sell a home in England and Wales will need to pay for a Home information pack (Hip).

It has been announced today that the rollout of Hips will continue to one and two-bed homes in December, meaning all properties will need one.

The packs have been controversial since the idea was first banded about and opposition to them continues.

However, the Association of Home Information Pack Providers (Ahipp) has welcomed the news, saying that the market as a whole will benefit from their introduction.

"This vital step has now clearly reinforced government's commitment to the successful implementation of Hips and we look forward to seeing the positive impact," said Paul Broadhead, deputy director general of Ahipp.

"The independent research by Europe Economics dispels suggestions by Rics and NAEA that Hips are having a detrimental impact on the market place

"For Hips to realise full benefit, the information has to be made available to potential buyers at the beginning of the [home-selling] process," he concluded.

Hips were initially introduced for properties with four or more bedrooms in August and then expanded to three-bed homes in September.ADNFCR-1116-ID-18366560-ADNFCR
