Student buy-to-let strong across the Channel

Buy-to-let investors hoping to make a profit from renting to students could look beyond the UK for their next investment, BuyAssociation has suggested, as it points to the existence of a "ready-made" buy-to-let market in Paris.
The French capital, quite apart from being "romantic and exciting", is beginning to attract students "from all over the world", said the property advice site's overseas editor Paul Collins.
UK-based buy-to-let investors are beginning to diversify and "look at different areas" for growing their investments, he added.
As a popular holiday destination, France is an ideal location to rent out properties to students because the flat or house can also be let to tourists during the 'void' period over the summer months when students return home or go abroad.
The French property market grew by 87 per cent between 1997 and 2005, according to the Economist, and the country, which is an increasingly popular destination for UK citizens, witnessed a 50 per cent increase in the number of Brits making France their permanent base over the last five years.
